Why Kin exists
Your mental and emotional companion through and beyond cancer.
We’re building the support we wish existed when we needed it most.
Cancer doesn’t end when treatment ends.
There is the fear before a scan.
The waiting for results.
The nights when sleep won’t come.
The fear of recurrence.
Changes in your body, identity and relationships.
Grief for the life you thought you were going to have.
And the challenge of finding your way back to yourself afterwards.
These are some of the hardest parts of cancer to navigate - yet emotional support isn’t always available when, or where, people need it.
Global problem, global opportunity
The need is enormous.
1 in 2 people born in the UK are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

Kin is building a new category of consumer support - combining AI personalisation, breathwork and nervous-system practices specifically for the full cancer journey, for patients and carers alike.
How it works
That’s why we’re building Kin.
An app giving personalised mental, emotional and nervous-system support throughout the cancer journey - and to the people caring for someone with cancer.
Rather than asking someone who is already overwhelmed to work out what they need, Kin will meet them where they are.
Kin brings together the approaches and practices Sophie has spent the last 12 years developing through her work with people affected by cancer:
Breathwork
Meditation
Sleep
Anxiety
Scanxiety
Grief
Self-compassion
Relationships
Life beyond cancer
Caregiver support
A simple check-in tells Kin where someone is and how they’re feeling that day, then guides them to the right support in that moment.
The opportunity now
We’re taking the depth of human support we’ve developed over 12 years and using technology to make it accessible and personalised at a scale we could never reach one-to-one.
Our vision
The future of emotional support in cancer care.
We believe emotional wellbeing should be a standard part of cancer care, not an afterthought. Our vision is a future where every person affected by cancer has access to personalised emotional support alongside their medical care - wherever they are, whenever they need it.
By combining evidence-based tools, compassionate guidance, and personalised support, we aim to improve the lives of millions of people touched by cancer.
Kin launches in the UK first, followed by expansion into North America and Australia, then selected European markets, with global reach over time.
Why us
Lived experience meets the ability to build it.
Together
Cancer expertise + lived experience + product + brand + community.
Kin is designed as a wellbeing product, with clinical advisory input, clear safeguarding and appropriate professional care pathways built into its development.
What we’ve already built
A community that already trusts us.
From supporting people one-to-one to building something that can reach millions. Kin is the next evolution of the work Sophie has been doing for the past 12 years.

Why Kin can win
Kin isn’t simply a library of cancer content.
We’re building at the intersection of deep cancer expertise, lived experience, trusted community, personalised technology and distribution partnerships.
Cancer expertise
12 years supporting people affected by cancer
Lived experience
Built by people who have been through it
Community
1,500+ people who already trust us
Personalised technology
Cancer-specific methodology that adapts to where someone is
Distribution partnerships
Charities, healthcare, employers, influencers
Over time, Kin’s advantage will come from the combination of trusted relationships, cancer-specific content and methodology, community, brand, personalisation and the evidence we build around what genuinely helps people.
Our ambition is to become a trusted digital layer alongside the organisations already supporting people through cancer - not to replace them. Charity and healthcare partnerships can become an important route to funded access and distribution.
The model
A scalable subscription model.
We want Kin to become the go-to mental and emotional support platform for everyone affected by cancer - from diagnosis through treatment, recovery and life beyond cancer, and for the people who love and care for them.

Where we want to take Kin
Year 1 - Build → Launch → Prove
Launch Kin V1 with AI-powered personalisation, establish our first distribution partnerships and reach our first 1,000-1,500 paying subscribers.
Years 2-3 - Grow → Distribute → Scale
Grow to several thousand paying subscribers while expanding charity and healthcare distribution, the content library and the team.
Years 4-5+ - Become the go-to platform
Our ambition is to reach tens of thousands of paying users initially, with the potential to scale significantly further as the model is proven and international distribution develops.
To build a multi-million-pound recurring-revenue business through B2C subscriptions, charity and healthcare partnerships and, over time, employer partnerships.
These are ambitious planning assumptions, not forecasts or guarantees. Actual growth will depend on product-market fit, retention, distribution and the wider market.

12 months for Sophie and Virginie to focus on building Kin
What happens after Year 1?
The goal of this first round is to build Kin, launch it, prove demand and establish repeatable growth.
As subscription revenue grows, we aim for Kin to increasingly fund its own operating costs. If early evidence supports faster expansion, we may raise further investment to accelerate growth.
Why we’re doing this
“Kin is the evolution of work I’ve spent 12 years doing one person at a time.”
Sophie Trew
I’ve seen first-hand how much people need emotional support through cancer and how difficult it can be to find it at exactly the moment it’s needed.
I’ve also seen how many people want support but don’t necessarily join a course, attend a group or know where to begin.
We now have the opportunity to take what we’ve learned and build something that can be there in the moments people need it most.
Our ambition is simple
To make sure no one has to navigate the mental and emotional side of cancer without somewhere to turn.
Be part of building something that matters.
There is absolutely no expectation to invest.
We’re sharing Kin with you because you’ve experienced the impact of cancer first-hand and understand why emotional support matters.
If Kin resonates and you’d like to hear more, we’d love to talk.
Don’t invest unless you’re prepared to lose all the money you invest. This is a high-risk investment and you are unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong.
